Strand woven Bamboo Flooring FAQ

Strand woven bamboo flooring is a relative newcomer to the flooring scene and this means there are still a lot of unanswered questions that many people may have about it. Here at EcoFusion, we thought it would be a good idea to provide a quick FAQ that covers some of the most common and important questions we receive, to better help you make your flooring decision. Here are the top 3 most common questions we answer on a daily basis:
1. How Hard is It?

This is easily one of the questions we get the most, and for good reason! There is a common misconception that bamboo flooring is softer and more prone to damage than other floor covering materials, but this simply isn’t true.

The fact of the matter is that strand woven is the 4th hardest flooring material available, based on a comparison of 52 different materials. In fact, it is 100% harder than the famously durable Red Oak!

This means that it is less likely to be damaged by falling objects, high-heeled shoes, moving furniture, or pet claws. Pretty good for grass!

2. Is it Easy to Maintain?

When you get right down to it, strand woven flooring is as easy to maintain as any hardwood floor would be. Frequent sweeping, and the occasional bit of attention from a dry mop, is all you need to keep it looking great all year round.

Like traditional hardwood floors, all you need to do is keep it safe from moisture, be sure that you keep it clean of any gritty sand or dirt that would erode the surface, and make sure nothing punctures, scratches or gouges it and it will continue looking great for years to come.

3. Is it Environmentally Friendly?

This one is a resounding “Yes!”, without a doubt. Because it is made from a fast-growing grass, strand woven bamboo is a rapidly renewable, sustainable resource. In addition to its renewability, the glues used to make it are certified safe and formaldehyde-free, as well as being a “non-gassing” material. This means that as the product ages, it will not emit harmful fumes into the air of your home.
